INNOCENCE TO EXPERIENCE

Everyone has gone through the metamorphosis of Innocence to Experience. Innocence to experience has various meaning in various situation and here I am going to write about my new corporate experience ,here Innocence considered to be a lack of knowledge to understand certain situations or things or experience something new . In order to grow and progress in life we encounter different instances where we gain experience, and thus are exposed to all that comes with the loss of innocence. The transition from innocence to experience is done through my regular studies to corporate summer internship experience , these may seems two very different situations but everything end up with one – Life lessons . We study from books to get good marks but do you think we can utilize our all 100% knowledge in our work, whatever we read and what chapters we read all can be utilized in our work or daily basis work. Do you think so, then why we so desperate for getting marks and why so much competitions among us. Don’t you think we are running after the same fake competitions from our for fathers era and it need to be change , which has no value after some years, who’ll remember your marks or grads, until unless you utilize that knowledge and do something remarkable?

But the bitter truth is, we all are purely desperate for marks not for ourselves but for society and some companies who always looking for 8 and 9 pointers. We all need a high paid jobs and we learnt from our childhood days, MORE MARK – MORE MONEY, Isn’t it? This is true, may be bitter truth. Then why Sundar Pichai become CEO of Google even he has secured less mark in 12^th, sorry guys! Everything depends on your effort and sometimes luck also play a great role in our life.

We all are innocent until we reach at corporate world, once we reach we taught about how the corporate sectors actually works, our experience help us to grow more not only in work life but also in our day today life. We learnt how to deal and “walk and talk”.

Let’s start my story from “Innocence to experience” –

I am Sweta Leena Panda, presently pursuing my career in General MBA in Sri Sri University and planning to take MARKETING, HR/FINANCE in my Major and minor. I don’t know how much I am capable but I always have a great interest towards marketing from my engineering career , I mainly love “Branding , Digital marketing and Marketing Research” and I feel I am quite good in these , this feeling comes from inside J

I did my B-tech from IIIT Bhubaneswar in 2014 then instead of going for job , I tried for M-Tech for research in Bioinformatics or Artificial Intelligence filed as these 2 fields actually can make my engineering career better as I have interest in these 2 fields only than any programming language, as always I was too ambitious than my labour and brain and failed to get good college as doing M-Tech in general college is better than don’t do specially for me as I have only interest in research not in other sectors and in the end I decided to switch to MBA due to my interest in marketing filed as per priority basis , research was my top most priority then marketing .

That’s why I didn’t have any work experience in corporate sectors, so this summer internship period was quit important period for me as a learner and experience the corporate sector. I got 3 internships through internsala – one is 3 STEPS in Kolkata , Alma mapper in Pune and TransportBazar etc.

I choosed 3 STEPS as I was getting a better position like Chief executive marketing with 16,000 stipend and my joining date was from 2^nd May but after reaching in kolkata and as per the address given to me for reporting , I couldn’t get proper communication about the office's actual location and in the end I talked with my mentor (3 STEPS, who was allocated to me) then he told me to work from Home as that company is not physically present and work in progress, they can give money as per my work in project. That was a quit heart breaking experience as I have to do an internship in a corporate sector not as a home based as I already handling a home based internship project in ALMAMAPPER on “BRANDING ON ALMAMAPPER”, that was quit interesting topic for me .

2 Days passed and finally I go for again interview round on 4^th may for my summer internship in an Odisha based company “Newsworld Odisha”, a 24 hours regional news channel. I was a B-tech student and I have less knowledge in journalism and mass communication sector, still I tried my best in interview round but that interview round was quit stressful for me as that was the only good company I got in the end moment within Odisha as in other companies I have to wait for more days and some have no name and some companies already internship seats were filled. that’s why when “Newsworld Odisha” HR , mem asked me “what’s today’s news about India /world” , I was fully blank what answer I should give as I didn’t watch television from last 2-3 days due to my internship tension but read the Insort stories from my mobile in that day but forgot the full information about those stories .

Finally after 20 minutes of interview round, finally I got chance to do internship and I also want to thanks my Uncle who worked there as “Chief Executive Marketing” helped me in the last and most important period in my life?

My first event management experience –

“MAA GHARA WOMEN PEACEMAKER AWARD” – that was on 8^th, on women’s day to show gratitude towards all women in Odisha for their Nobel work towards the society. I was working with marketing team to experience how the corporate events are managed as I didn’t have experience in media industry that’s why that was a great time for me to learn, where the flyers and posters will be post. In which news slot the “Maa Ghara Women peacemaker award” program will be advertise. How the seats and the stages will be decorated and who are the chief guests.

After 8^th, I worked for my company in “news world Odisha” in advertising and promotion , I learnt video editing and then upload in Newsworld Odisha  YouTube channel and social media promotion through my internship mentor – Samir Kumar Das , Promo Producer.

Then I allotted a demo market research project under the guidance of Partha Sarathi Mahakul (Manager in marketing and events) – “Market research on a start-up, which is started by own” to check the feasibility study and understand the market research process. That’s why I got a golden opportunity to work on my own B-PLAN, I research on a contemporary and fashionable Craft and assets and understand how that sector actually works and what it’s future and feasibility study , after i completed my research work , I show my work to my mentor .

Then finally I allotted to another market research project “Market research for newsworld Odisha and Comparative study with national and regional news channels” under same guide “Partha Sarathi Mahakul and Samir Kumar Das”. This is quit interesting project for me as here I learnt a lot about different media industries and how they actually works , how our company works as compare to them, finally I conclude with what are the steps we can take to increase the TRP.

For this project, I targeted the Eastern Odisha like – Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, jajpur, balasore and bhadrak districts. I collect the 170 samples from these areas mainly and finally reach into the conclusion.

These are all about my experience in “newsworld Odisha” , besides this I was handling 2 more projects one is on Branding on Almamapper and another is “Feasibility study of a manpower providing agency company” in a Odisha based NGO – SOCH . My work all most completed in Almamapper and about another project , the work is still going on as this is quit tough as I did with my study but collect the sample is quite difficult for me as for this you have to go different apartments and offices and ask their manager or owner to fill the form so this is quit tough for me as I am not from Bhubaneswar or Cuttack locality and I don’t have scotty to cover all , as most of the time managers and owners don’t stay in the office or apartment . So this is time taking project as well as for a Nobel cause also. I love to take the responsibility but I feel happy when I complete my task without any breakage or fault.

This is all about my internship period work experience, this is quit new for me. But here no grade matters, only one thing matter that is pure knowledge of yours. Sometimes your personality also reflects in your work. How you behave, walk, talk and do the things matters most then what knowledge you have or where you pass out.

I enjoyed my internship period , these 2 months were good learning period for me but my projects were research based that’s why I can’t understand how the selling actually done in marketing as what information I got from my friends – Selling is the base in marketing . Let’s see what my future is going to give me and where to take me , eagerly waiting.

This year is quite rough and tough period for me as this is my final year and until I get a job my headache will be remain same in my head, hope! I’ll get a job soon as well as position/designation as per my specialization which I can handle better, that’s my only wish before my lord. You can balance your day today/family life when you enjoy your job life – MAJOR LESSON LEARNT as we spend 8-9 hours in our office with our profession, we all should know – WORK – LIFE BALANCE but that will come eventually.
